 State of the Bay 2010

A Conference about Tomales Bay and its Watershed

 October 22-23, 2010

AGENDA NOW AVAILABLE

On Friday, October 22, the State of the Bay will open with a Keynote address from our Assemblyman, Jared Huffman, Chair of the Water and Wildlife committee.  Much of the day Friday will be focussed on the latest scientific information on the status of native and invasive species in the Bay, including marine fish and invertebrates, seals and other pinnepeds, salmonid fish, and vegetation. Physical conditions in the Bay and how they are being impacted by climate change will be addressed.  We will also learn about oil spill response and vessel management.

On Saturday October 23, Marin County Supervisor Steve Kinsey will report on the County's efforts to protect water quality and improve habitat in the watershed.  Past and present efforts to deal with failing septic systems will be reviewed.  A comprehensive report and analysis of water quality monitoring data will be a highlight. We will find out how the Giacomini Wetlands Restoration project is enhancing the Bay, what farmers and ranchers are doing to protect the watershed, and how efforts to restore Chicken Ranch Beach are proceding.
